Trump blasted for boasting about coronavirus testing, Angry Internet wonders if he can get any 'dumber'
NEW YORK: In daily news, President Donald Trump has
angered the Internet yet again. His July 5 quote on the rising
coronavirus cases has many people wondering if he's "dumb". Trump took
to Twitter the day after Independence Day to write: "Cases, Cases,
Cases! If we didn't test so much and so successfully, we would have very
few cases. If you test 40,000,000 people, you are going to have many
cases that, without the testing (like other countries), would not show
up every night on the Fake Evening News," wrote the president. He
continued, "In a certain way, our tremendous Testing success gives the
Fake News Media all they want, CASES. In the meantime, Deaths and the
all-important Mortality Rate goes down.
You don't hear about that from the Fake News, and you never will. Anybody need any Ventilators???"
One
angry user wrote, "'Anybody need any ventilators?' Really? You need to
shut up for once in your pathetic life. I hope that utterance is the
epitaph on your gravestone." Another sadly adding, "You can use my
brother's ventilator. He died last week."
One user wrote,
"132,081 Americans dead 44,000,000 Americans unemployed Russian bounties
on American Soldiers Welcome to Trump's idea of MAGA." The thread did
more than just anger people as many claimed the president was making a
"mockery of those who have lost their lives to the virus". Covid-19
continues to be a threat as people continue to get inflicted by the
virus that has claimed thousands and thousands of lives over the past
few months. While many are claiming the use of a mask has become
political, many can't seem to comprehend why President Trump would say
something 'so deliriously stupid'. "How does this clown still not
understand that those cases would still exist with or without testing?"
asked one user.
"According to Donald Trump if you don't take a
flu test then you don't have the flu," with another frustrated user
adding, "This is not true and extremely dangerous for the President of
the United States to claim about testing. The positivity rate has been
increasing, meaning that even though we are doing more testing, the
percentage of the tests coming back positive is increasing as well." The
president's recent Rushmore Rally was also called out as many at the
event were seen not maintaining any social distancing and were without
masks. People called the event "a breeding ground for Covid-19". While
the president is under the impression that the cases don't exist without
testing, many are calling out the danger in his unfiltered comments.
"Trump claiming that we only have more cases because we are testing more
is very dangerous because it signals that the government will
discourage testing and bury its head in the sand as Americans get sick.
We need more testing in order to isolate the ones who are infected,"
wrote another user.
Like usual some used sarcasm to call out the
Presidents' "unsound medical jargon", with one user writing, "BREAKING:
Florida shatters record with nearly 11,500 new cases in a single day.
Any words on your colossal failure?" Another user wrote, "Just when you
think Trump can't get any dumber, he always finds a way to surprise
you." One said, "Perhaps you should hold on to the ventilators... could
be your son needing one soon. If there was no testing, your son's
girlfriend wouldn't have the 'hoax' and could be having dinner with you
right now! If we don't test, more people will get it."
"This is
maybe the most insane thing i've ever seen him tweet. The fact that he
doesn't realize that cases are still cases whether they're confirmed or
not & that just because not everyone is dying from it, doesn't mean
that many of their bodies & organs aren't irreparably harmed,"
tweeted another user.
